Keep Your Bucket Empty: The Secret to Emotional Balance

This Month’s Focus: Regulation

Have you ever worked with a student who shuts down when faced with a challenge? Or one who reacts impulsively before thinking? Self regulation is the key to managing emotions staying focused, and adapting to challenges- but for many students, it doesn't come naturally.

💡 When Emotions Overflow: A Student’s Journey to Regulation

Middle school can be tough—especially when emotions feel impossible to control. Years ago, I worked with a student who struggled with emotional regulation. When frustration hit, it often led to tears, making her a target for teasing from her peers.

She needed a way to manage her emotions before they overwhelmed her. That’s when I introduced her to a system called “How Full Is Your Bucket?” It gave her a concrete way to recognize when her emotions were building up and take steps to regain control.

The best part? She didn’t just use it in our coaching sessions—she applied it in real life. When her teacher asked about her goal for the next week, she confidently said: "To keep my bucket empty."

👉 Want to know how you can use it too? You can access my Self-Regulation Module for $197, where I share this and other powerful strategies for emotional regulation.

When students struggle with regulation, we often see:
🔹 Emotional Outbursts – Frustration leading to tears, anger, or withdrawal.
🔹 Inconsistent Focus – Difficulty staying on track or transitioning between tasks.
🔹 Impulsivity – Acting before thinking, struggling to pause and assess a situation.
🔹 Avoidance or Procrastination – Feeling overwhelmed and putting off tasks.

The good news? Regulation is a skill that can be strengthened with the right tools and strategies.

That’s why I’m offering my Self-Regulation Module for just $197 for a limited time. This module provides research-backed strategies to help students improve their ability to manage emotions, focus, and handle challenges more effectively.
